This is the topic to feedback any thoughts or issues with the latest release. If there are no specific issues I will transfer 1.0 RC2 into the full 1.0 release as soon as possible.

Do please experiment with the program and see how you get on.

I've found one issue which I can't quite work out as it was working perfectly earlier - it seems that the name is not displaying correctly. When entered on the start screen it somehow seems to forget the name. I've also found a couple of extra issues in the generator program where it doesn't put 'not entered yet' when you move from a new question backwards - it instead forces you to complete the question or delete it. I'll fix these for the finished release.

I've updated an exercise that Rob Chambers created with the very first version of Practice Paper. You can download the example data file to play around with it. This was extremely 'formatting-heavy' and helped find the initial problems with Practice Paper. I've just tried it now and it seems to handle the file with ease. There are only four questions though

Attached File  Coastal_Features.txt (33.97K)
Number of downloads: 5

You can test out two working examples of this latest version too:

AS ICT example:
http://www.contentgenerator.net/practicepa...test/asict.html

Coastal features example:
http://www.contentgenerator.net/practicepa...st/coastal.html

Also note the new [expected] error if you try to use the .swf file directly:

I've fixed this now - and have updated the RC2 download. Despite this being quite a minor issue it actually has a major impact on how useful the finished exercise is. If you've installed RC 2 already, please re-install the above updated version.

Had the following feedback reported:

Having a few problems... Preview works as far as showing Q &A & feedback but the print button, and link to support button don't work - is that expected?

When I copy the files to a server then pretty well everything is fine.
Example here: http://history.oakha...aper/test5.html

However, the drop-down for number of questions and time for each seems to work inconsistently. And the 'End of Exercise Menu' button on the Print page doesn't seem to work.

Tried again - with more questions: http://history.oakha...aper/test6.html

All fine. Maybe needs more than two or three questions?

When I tried the Coastal features file, everything was perfect:

That is expected actually - the application gets Flash to communicate with other files. As you were originally viewing it on your own computer the Flash security settings were probably preventing the print and link buttons working. The fact it works when online proves this.

You're right about the drop-downs here. I think this is a mistake in my coding. The final development of this before I released it was to code the dynamic drop-downs. As you say below it works if you have more than 3 questions. What actually happens here is that the code is handled differently if you have three or fewer questions. I think this alternative code must be incorrect. Thanks for spotting that.

The print button seemed to work ok - although it seems to have to be pressed twice when trying it for a second go. I'll look into that.

Thanks - this feedback is much appreciated and helps fix things towards the upcoming release.

Looking pretty good! Drop-down menus where student selects number of questions not working as expected yet.

As far as printing goes, I think I am doing something wrong, so i will get back to you on that. Could be a browser problem, I guess: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.2) Gecko/20070219 Firefox/2.0.0.2

This looks great. I will certainly buy it when the time comes. :-)

I think the printing issue could be related to you testing the exercise on your own computer? The Flash security settings mean that on a local PC Flash cannot communicate with javascript unless you change your security settings. This isn't an issue when you put the exercise online.

I believe that I've now fixed the issue with the drop-down boxes so I will release Version 1.0. Do continue to feedback any issues though!
