This is an example of an exercise that the latest version of Practice Paper produces:

http://www.reviseict...tice_ict1.shtml

If you are feeling brave, view the source code of that page. :D

Anyway, this seems to work, including the printing feature - although the print sizes aren't quite correct yet. I will release a beta version tomorrow evening that allows anyone to generate these exercises. As I'm sure you can appreciate, this is a much more in-depth program than any other of the generator programs, aside perhaps from the Interactive Diagram generator.

Anyway, give it a try and let me know what you think. I still have to work to create more space for the actual questions I think - the whole application would benefit from a little more space near the top. However - finally - I'm delighted to have a nearly finished version. ;)

;) Damn - I've just discovered that the print tool doesn't work with Internet Explorer 7. I think I'll need to tweak how the Flash file communicates with the webpage it is embedded into. My fault for using Firefox all the time (where it works perfectly by the way :D )

Looks very impressive, can't wait for the full version.
However the print option did not work when I tried it.

Thanks for your continued efforts

Thanks Tanya - I'd just spotted that too. I'm sure I can fix that. I'm using a similar technique to an exercise I created over four years ago at http://www.schoolhistory.co.uk/lessons/eli...hi_end/work.htm - at the end of that exercise I get Flash to generate a pop-up window with the text in. This is what I've tried to get working with Practice Paper, but somehow Internet Explorer must be preventing Flash triggering the window.

PS Sorry for the delay in replying to your e-mail - I've given you access to the Practice Paper section. As long as I can fix this printing issue I'll release the beta for this version tomorrow (or rather now, today) evening.

'If you are feeling brave, view the source code of that page' ... I was, I did - and thank goodness I'm still on holiday and can go back to bed! Phew!!

Andrew

Good idea about the pop-up window at the end.

Would it be possible to add the question as well as the answer to this window as this would make marking/reviewing of answers easier?

Douglas

Hi Douglas - if you test the page in Firefox you'll see that this already happens. At the moment you get the actual question, the user answer and the model answer.

After some further investigation I've decided that the best way forward with Practice Paper is to try and find a pop-up coding solution that will work with Internet Explorer 7. The printing problems have been long and extensive, but the current demonstration works perfectly with Firefox and is just skewed with the updated security features of Internet Explorer 7. Incidentally these security features have been pointless as they don't stop the ads but they do stop the genuine pop-up activities such as the window Practice Paper produces.

More soon I hope <_<

(Is there anyone who actually likes IE7?)

Well, it is a much more solid browser that is more complaint than IE6. Only trouble its that it breaks so much <_< I've spent a couple of hours this evening looking for a solution.

I've managed to get the printing working with one example, but then it fails with an extended example. Still progress I suppose....

Well, I've spent ages more fiddling with the pop-up printing technique. Works perfectly on FireFox but fails with Internet Explorer. Still the same story, despite trying different techniques. Same issues continue I'm afraid. I'm still determined to fix it though... ;)
