It has been a long time in development, but I believe we're approaching the stage where a working playable demo will be available. The game involves the player getting a question correct and then trying to achieve a hole in one. There are 10 different holes available and now - what has taken then time - there are a wide variety of ways in which the player's shot can be saved if they aim badly.

The tricky aspect is to get the balance of the game right - I want to ensure that students are rewarded if they get a question correct but that there is sufficient challenge for the game.

I will update the topic as soon as I can with a playable demo of the most recent version.

I've also been working on the background game too today.

The game will feature a one player, two player and multi-player mode - as well as the SCORM feature. I think this has the potential to work really well as a whole class and individual challenge game. The golf aspect requires players to press the mouse / interactive board to start aiming and then press again to stop. At the 'rookie' level, if you get a question right there is an 80% chance you'll get a hole in one, whereas the 'experienced' or 'superstar' levels require more controlled aiming.

I have worked very hard on making the game work at a number of different levels as it is vital the complexity of the programming doesn't reduce the whole thing to something that students are not interested or engaged with.

As always with the development I keep adding features and adapting the way the game works. As soon as it is ready for public consumption I'll upload a demo.

I've now produced more intro / overview screens that you see when you setup a game. Each time you play you will complete a 'course' of 10 random holes. At the start of each game, these will be shown - a customised course map appears like this:

It would be possible to see this map as your work through the course (i.e. after each hole), but I think that might be too much - I want to keep things flowing with the basic aim of getting a question correct and then trying to achieve a hole in one.

Slightly updated 'challenge' screen - this will be used to make it clear what the challenge is:

  • 1 player game - 10 holes, 10 shots
  • 2 Player game - 5 holes each
  • Multi-player game - shot per player at random

Thanks for the reply - I will upload the demo as soon as possible. Very pleased with the way this game has turned out but it is essential that it is attention grabbing and playable.

Yes - unfortunately I haven't had a chance to get the demo finished - but it won't be much longer. I am still very keen on this game as I'm hoping it will be our best one yet.
