After some extensive and lengthy development, I'm delighted to share the completed 1 player version of On Target? The two player and multi-player options aren't complete yet, nor is the SCORM functionality but everything else is.

Do have a go and please feedback any thoughts:

I've designed this game to be particularly useful on an interactive whiteboard - but should be just as attention grabbing via a projector or on individual computers.

The player has to answer a question correctly to get access to the fairground-style shooting game. The aim of the game is to shoot as many 'evil' ducks and frogs whilst avoiding the 'good' ones. Whilst this was visible in the previous betas, the ability to set the skill level and - most significantly - the 'bonus' options are all now complete.

I'll construct the 'On Target?' page will the full feature set, but for now do try the demo version out.

Thanks - I do have some more sound effects to add it, plus need to implement the alternative game options and finish SCORM.

Have you tried hitting the bottles in the background of the game? This all got a bit complex, but I feel it works well now - I like the random selection screen too, but would appreciate any additional ideas or suggestions.

For instance:

1. Does it work with the percentage just being %age of questions correct?
2. Appropriate that the game contains all the available questions - thus in this there are 20, and you get all 20?
3. Pie chart at the end - worthwhile?

Obviously the features have now been programmed, but I can tweak and adapt things according to what others think.

Andrew -it is all I can manage just to aim randomly at anywhere and I'm delighted if I can hit anything or any creature good or bad! I am sure the pupils will do much better though.

No - I would like an option at least to have only 10 questions even if you input more - I feel if you play this on an IWB after 10 it gets a bit lengthy. If I were being observed playing a game (as indeed I have been!) I'd only want 10 questions - it's enough to have your fun and get the point.

As always, the questions are easy to get wrong, but you always remember for the next time - but i don't think the questions randomise?

OK - I will change that as I also feel showing 'all' the questions was a few too many. I'll set it so you would normally get 10 questions, but if fewer than 10 are entered you'll just get that number.

The only hesitation about this is with a SCORM game. I do see advantages of allowing the full question set. I might try and build this as an option - this works with the Multi-choice generator, so I'll look to see if it could work here.

I've also now got the SCORM features working - test these for yourself on the ContentGenerator.net Moodle:

The game now only shows 10 questions - I think this is the best option but I'm still very much open to ideas. I thought SCORM would just work straight away - but it has taken even more time to get working. It did finally track the score on the seventh attempt.

Having tested the SCORM functionality in the normal light of day it seems to work really well. Just tested in on a Mac and it tracked the scores perfectly.





Note - the 'P' recorded for time is an issue with Moodle not supporting SCORM 2004 features fully - as mentioned with previous versions of our SCORM-enabled programs. It would be good for this to work, but with the games it isn't necessary data. The timing features of SCORM courses are more useful when you have an extensive course that you want to track usage of - we've just used SCORM as a way to get the game scores into the Moodle gradebook. This works and that is the key thing
