Hello- In 2007 (I believe), I purchased the Walk the Plank game generator. In the process of changing computers, I have accidentally lost the installer. This was the old version of the game, not the new one that is presently online. I cannot use the new one because I am using the game on older Macs that are running OS9, and they do not support a newer Flash version. Is there a way to give me a link to download the old version of the Walk the Plank installer? My students love the game, and I use it regularly for test practice and review. Thanks for any help!
Hi - sorry you've run into issues with the Walk the Plank generator. I will see if I can make an older version available. Could you confirm what version of Flash you do have access to on Mac OS9?
I'm not 100% sure but I'm fairly confident that the previous version of Walk the Plank targeted the same version of the Flash player- Flash player 8.
In the meantime I'll try to find an older version for you to use.
I believe that it's Flash player version 7. I also purchased Hoop Shoot which requires version 8, and it doesn't work with Mac Internet Explorer in OS9.
Hello again Andrew- I hate to bother you again with another problem. I have downloaded the free Fling the Teacher game to provide a change from Walk the Plank for my students. As I mentioned in my Walk the Plank post, we are using Internet Explorer on Mac OS9. The Fling the Teacher demo and the example games on your site all play fine on OS9, but the game that I created does not. I have tried it on several OS9 Macs. The game title, play, and about buttons on the opening screen do not show. I noticed that the game is now version 3 and was updated in January, 2010. Could this be the problem? If so, is there an earlier version that would work with OS9? Thanks for any help.
Just as I did with Walk the Plank I can release an older version for you - I haven't updated all the games on my various sites to the latest versions but the most recent release was more a few minor tweaks than any major upgrade or changes. If the old version works, the one should too.
I wonder if this is perhaps somehow related to viewing a .swf file locally (i.e. directly on your operating system) rather than via the browser (where there might be a more up to date Flash player).
Anyway, I'll message you the older download so you can try that.
Thanks again Andrew- It's not a matter of viewing the Flash file locally because I uploaded the finished game to my website and tried it from there. Anyway, hopefully the earlier version will work. Thanks!
